Two North Texas children who were in stolen car found safe after Amber Alert

Two children who were in the back seat of a car that was stolen were found safe Sunday evening, according to Farmers Branch police.

The children were left at a shopping center in the 4800 block of Maple Avenue, police said. The stolen car was still missing Sunday evening.

The Texas Department of Public Safety had issued an Amber Alert on Sunday for the two children.

The car was stolen about 3:30 p.m. while the owner was checking the mail, according to Farmers Branch police. The children, 6-year-old Preston Jeremy Scarlett and 4-year-old Princess Janelle Scarlett, were in the back seat.

The car is a maroon 2016 GMC Terrain with Texas license plate number HFL 1525, police said. The GMC Terrain’s front passenger side quarter panel is black, and the front passenger side door is a different shade of red. The vehicle, which also has front bumper damage, was last seen near 4000 Sigma Road in Farmers Branch.
