Road rage shooting Sunday in Fort Worth is the second in less than a week

An unknown driver opened fire on a pickup truck Sunday afternoon on U.S. 287 in Fort Worth in an apparent road rage shooting, authorities said.

It was the second road rage shooting reported in five days in Fort Worth.

In the Sunday shooting, no injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred about 1:30 p.m. near east Loop 820 and Sun Valley Drive, Fort Worth police said Monday.

The victim’s truck was hit several times in the shooting, forcing the driver to pull off the road.

The victim told Fort Worth police the suspect was in a silver Honda Civic between the model years 1995 to 2000 with a black hood and customized wheels that appear to be “stanced,” where the back wheels are sitting at an angle.

The driver was described as possibly a Hispanic man with black hair and facial hair, who was wearing a black beanie hat.

The driver told KXAS-TV that the suspect’s car was speeding on U.S. 287.

“I look in my mirror to switch lanes and it looks like he’s pretty far back there, but as I get in that lane he’s right behind us, so I’m guessing he went pretty fast and maybe took it as me cutting him off,” the driver told KXAS-TV. “But next thing I know there’s bullets flying through the back window.”

Last week, a man was shot in the arm — in another road rage incident also on U.S. 287 — in far north Fort Worth, police said. That victim was a 21-year-old college student who was on his way to visit his parents when another driver cut him off, according to KXAS-TV.
