Police arrest suspect in Fort Worth killing; victim found behind the wheel of a Buick

Police homicide detectives have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a Fort Worth killing in which the victim was found shot in his torso behind the wheel of a Buick.

Ray Burns-Simpson was booked on Thursday night on suspicion of murder in the death on Monday of Derrick Petite, 28.

Petite was in a Buick that had crashed about 8 p.m. into a parked vehicle on Race Street near Blevins Street.

When Petite was removed from the vehicle, it was discovered that he had been shot, according to a police report.

Petite, who lived in Fort Worth, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Police did not release a motive in the killing.
