More than 17 pounds of marijuana seized in Arlington traffic stop; two arrested

Almost 20 pounds of marijuana and six weapons were seized, and five people were arrested by police in the last week in two separate cases in Arlington.

A traffic stop on Tuesday netted authorities more than 17 pounds of marijuana, police said.

Two handguns also were confiscated by Arlington police in that stop, which occurred in the 4200 block of New York Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Two men, Shontravious Rogers, 30, and Greg Rogers, 34, were arrested at the scene and face charges of possession of marijuana and felon in possession of a firearm. Passenger Shontravious Rogers also will be charged with evading arrest, police said.

Last week, Arlington police armed with a search warrant seized more than two pounds of marijuana and four guns while arresting three people at an apartment.

The raid occurred in the 6000 block of Clearwater Drive in Arlington.

Joshua Craig, 31; Xavier Moore, 26; and Barrandon Doyle, 26, were arrested in the raid.

Craig is expected to be charged with marijuana possession and felon in possession of firearm. Moore faces a charge of drug possession, and Doyle was taken into custody on a misdemeanor warrant, according to Arlington police.
