Police identify two young suspects in Southlake high school racial slur graffiti case

Prosecutors will pursue a felony criminal mischief case against two youths who police have alleged painted graffiti on the Carroll High School campus in Southlake.

A third suspect had not been identified, Southlake police said Tuesday as they announced the other suspects were identified. Their names haven’t been released because of their age.

Racial slurs and vulgar images were painted on two buses, maintenance equipment and a scoreboard at the school at 800 North White Chapel Blvd., Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV reported. The graffiti was reported to police on Jan. 13.

The cost of the damage that the graffiti caused is at least $40,000, police said.

On Tuesday, the Tarrant County Juvenile District Attorney’s Office accepted for prosecution a criminal mischief case against the suspects, police said.

A police spokesman said that the crime was under an ongoing investigation involving juveniles and declined to say whether the suspects are students at the school they are accused of defacing.
