16-year-old from Fort Worth killed in shooting, car crash in DeSoto, according to police

A 16-year-old from Fort Worth was killed and a man was seriously injured during a shooting and car crash Saturday night in DeSoto, according to media reports.

Police responded to an apartment complex in the 500 block of East Belt Line Road at 7 p.m. Saturday, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA reported. Witnesses told police they heard gunshots before a car crashed into an SUV in the parking lot.

The 16-year-old, who was a Duncanville High School student and Fort Worth resident, had been shot in the head. The man, who was from Duncanville, was wounded but in stable condition after surgery.

The 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police believe the shooting was caused by a drug deal gone wrong, WFAA reported. Two men were seen running away from the scene at the time of the shooting.
