Dallas teen in custody, accused of fatally shooting man in Fort Worth apartment
A Dallas teen accused of shooting a man to death in Fort Worth was arrested Wednesday morning and faces a charge of murder.
Jail records identified the suspect as 18-year-old Elijah Maurice Bankhead, who was booked into the Fort Worth Jail just after 11 a.m.
Police did not release any details on the arrest or of the shooting death of 36-year-old Raymond Castillo Jr. on Nov. 22.
Days after the deadly shooting, police had released photographs of a man who they said was with Castillo before he was slain.
The surveillance images police released appeared to show the man inside a store.
Castillo was found dead in his apartment in the 4000 block of Pin Oak Terrace, police said.
He died from from gunshot wounds to his head and back, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Castillo’s death was ruled a homicide.
Officers were dispatched to an open structure call about 4 a.m. on Nov. 22 and found Castillo’s body inside the apartment, according to a police report. The building is known as the Post Oak Apartments.
A motive for the shooting has not been released.
