Man suspected of capital murder in 83-year-old’s stabbing death, Irving police say

A man providing some sort of service to an 83-year old woman stabbed her to death Thursday in Irving, police said.

Betty Thomas’ body was found at about 6 p.m. at a house in the 3000 block East Cortez Court, said Officer Robert Reeves, an Irving police spokesman.

Roy Holden Jr., 43, was arrested on suspicion of capital murder. The motive in the killing was unclear Friday night, Reeves said.

Police responded to the house on an unconscious person call and discovered Thomas was dead.

Anyone with information on the killing should call the Irving Police Department at 972-273-1010, Reeves said. Tips may be submitted to ipdcrimetips@cityofirving.org.
