Two suspects arrested in Garland drug sale killing; victim shot as he sat in vehicle

Police have identified two 17-year-old suspects in a drug sale killing Monday in Garland.

Bryan Ibarra was arrested Wednesday and Edgar Villegas-Torres was arrested Thursday. Both were booked on suspicion of murder at the Garland Detention Center.

Christopher Cardoza, also 17, died at a hospital after he was shot about 5:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 3600 block of South First Street, police said.

Cardoza and a friend met Ibarra and Villegas-Torres for a drug sale, police alleged. Cardoza was shot as he sat in the front passenger seat of the vehicle in which he arrived, police said. The driver sped away and took Cardoza to a hospital.
