Dallas teen killed in shooting in Garland parking lot, police say
A Dallas teenager was killed in a shooting in a Garland parking lot Monday evening and Garland officers are searching for his killer, police said.
Christopher Cardoza, 17, was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas by a witness to the shooting and later died of his injuries, Garland police said in a news release. His death is being treated as a murder.
Detectives believe Cardoza went to meet an individual in a parking lot in the 3600 block of South First Street in Garland, police said. It seems he was then shot during the encounter, police said, and a witness took him to Texas Health.
Garland officers responded to a gunshot wound call at the hospital around 5:30 p.m., police said. They were advised upon their arrival that Cardoza had died.
An investigation is ongoing and investigators are following up on leads, police said.
