Violent robber found guilty in 2018 Valentine’s Day holdup at Fort Worth game room

A Fort Worth man was found guilty Tuesday in the violent Valentine’s Day 2018 robbery of a Fort Worth game room.

In the holdup, heavily armed assailants shot up the game room and robbed gambling customers. One customer was injured.

At his trial on Tuesday, a Tarrant County jury found Jcolby Jackson, 20, guilty of engaging in organized crime for the holdup at the C’est La Vie Bida in Fort Worth.

On Wednesday, jurors in Criminal District Court No. 432 sentenced Jackson to 27 years in prison.

Jackson was the last of five suspects to go to trial for the Feb. 14, 2018, holdup where suspects opened fire into the game room as they walked in to rob customers.

Police were called to the game room at 3255 N. Beach St. just after 4:15 a.m. Feb. 14, 2018. According to Fort Worth police records, at least six customers inside were robbed of their cash and wallets.

After shooting up the game room and robbing its customers, the suspects fled the scene, Fort Worth police said. One wore a clown mask and carried a rifle that closely resembled an AK-47.

Surveillance video shows the suspects opening fire as soon as they enter the business. White ceiling fragments can be seen falling from the impact of multiple rounds. An 18-year-old woman was shot in the leg.

“They entered the game room and immediately opened fire,” Detective Brian Raynsford said during a news conference days after the holdup. “They fired randomly in the building and it resulted in the serious injury to one victim.”

Through the investigation, authorities arrested Jackson and four others including a 16-year-old in March 2018.

The suspects were identified as Anthony LaSalle Barber and Paul Dejuan Garner, both 20, and Brenshay Jarrell Washington, 19. The 16-year-old juvenile was not identified.

Washington was sentenced to 18 years in prison in January for engaging in organized crime, Barber got 15 years in prison in December 2018 for engaging in organized crime, and Garner received 10 years in January for aggravated robbery, according to court documents.

The 16-year-old was charged with delinquent conduct/aggravated robbery, but further information on the outcome of his case was not available.
