As students of Jean McClung Middle School walked home, boarded buses and got into their parents’ vehicles, officers with the Fort Worth Police Department investigated a shooting at a home directly across from the school.

Officer Jimmy Pollozani said a woman and her 21-year-old son were arguing inside a home in the 3000 block of Forest Avenue, directly across from the middle school.

At one point during the argument, the son pulled a samurai sword out and the mother shot him in the leg, Pollozani said.

Authorities said the injured party was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

“At this point the mom was just defending herself and will probably not be arrested,” Pollozani said. “She is still on scene being interviewed.”
