On the first day of spring in 1999, Southlake opened the first six blocks of its new Town Square, a tribune to Main Street Americana.

Designed to look like an old-fashioned downtown, the 130-acre project raised the bar for upscale retail development in Tarrant County. “This place is going to be the backdrop for memories,” builder Brian Stebbins told the Star-Telegram at the time. “We haven’t had a place like this in Southlake, a place where memories are made.“
