Hurst-Euless-Bedford school board announces lone finalist for superintendent position
Joseph “Joe” Harrington, Hurst-Euless-Bedford’s deputy superintendent for educational operations, was named the lone finalist for the district’s superintendent position on Monday.
HEB’s current superintendent, Steve Chapman, announced his retirement in December after nearly 40 years in Texas public schools.
Harrington, whose career in education spans 35 years, joined HEB in 2013 as the district’s assistant superintendent for secondary administration, according to a news release by the school district.
Prior to joining Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Harrington taught science and coached for 16 years in three states and served assistant principal and principal roles in Northwest ISD and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.
District trustees plan to officially name Harrington as superintendent at the March 28 board meeting, according to the release.
Harrington said he’s is excited to lead the school district forward and support everyone’s unique pathway to success.
“HEB ISD is a special place because this community believes we all have a responsibility to enable students to thrive,” he said in the release. “We truly are better together.”
Harrington completed his doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2011. He holds a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Buffalo State College.
