A month after the hostage standoff at Congregation Beth Israel, Colleyville is holding a celebration of strength and resilience on Monday to bring the community together.

Colleyville Strong: A Celebration of Faith & Community begins at 7 p.m. at the Colleyville Center, 5301 Riverwalk Dr. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Members of the Colleyville Ministerial Alliance met shortly after the hostage crisis and decided that the community needed to come together for healing and reflection. The event will feature music, speakers and prayers.

A British national held the congregation’s rabbi and three others hostage for nearly 11 hours on Jan. 15. After one hostage was released earlier in the day, Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker and the others escaped shortly before the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team killed the hostage taker, Malik Faisal Akram.
