North Texas teen accused in road rage shooting death after minor traffic accident
An Irving teenager is accused of shooting to death a 34-year-old man earlier this month during a road rage incident on Loop 12, police said Thursday.
The fatal shooting occurred after a minor traffic accident in Dallas, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Jose Alexander Lopez, 18. He was being held in the Irving Jail on a murder charge on Thursday with bail set at $1 million.
Lopez is accused of killing Juan Jose Casas-Cruz, who was a passenger in a vehicle involved in the accident and shooting on Oct. 7.
Investigators determined there was an altercation on the morning of Oct. 7 after a minor wreck in Dallas, police said.
The vehicle carrying Casas-Cruz was southbound on Loop 12 near Texas 183 when a small pickup pulled up next to the victim and started shooting, according to police.
Casas-Cruz was hit by one of the rounds and taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas where he died, police said.
