Body of swimmer who fell into Lake Grapevine on Saturday found

Authorities have found the body of a man who had fallen while tubing on Grapevine Lake Saturday and went missing.

The body was recovered floating near the Flower Mound shore at Bolo Point about 4:45 p.m. Monday, said John Sherwood, Grapevine Fire Department assistant chief. Residents first saw the body and called emergency crews to investigate, Sherwood said.

The unidentified man was thought to be in his mid-20s.

Authorities were called out about 10:40 a.m. Saturday when the man's innertube disconnected from a boat that was pulling it and the man stuggled in the water and went under, fire department officials said.

The man was enjoying the lake with a group of friends but was not wearing a life jacket, according to Sherwood.

Teams searching Saturday and Sunday could not identify a good location where the missing man was last seen, Sherwood said. The Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden spent a lot of time searching the west end of the lake Saturday and Sunday with sonar grid searches, according to authorities.

The man has not yet been identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.
