See North Texas firefighters rescue baby ducks from water drain
Some Lewisville firefighters were on a workout walk the morning of Wednesday, June 24 when they heard an “unusual sound”: A mama duck was quacking loudly near a water overflow drain, according to a Facebook post from the Lewisville Fire Department.
The mama duck was swimming back and forth as she continued to quack, prompting a firefighter to check a nearby water overflow drain. He found three little ducks had fallen in.
“The rest of the crew quickly stepped in to help. Working together, the guys were able to safely retrieve all three ducklings from the drain,” the department wrote on Facebook.
After getting all three baby ducks out of the drain, the firefighters reunited the mama duck with her babies and said “the whole family waddled off together safely.”

The members created a rock barrier to try to prevent any ducks falling down the drain in the future.
Lewisville Fire Department officials said its members are glad to help the community in any situation, “no matter how small.”
