A Southlake park will get an $8.2M renovation starting this summer
Southlake families can expect big park improvements later this year as the city invests in revamping North Park to enhance visitors’ experience playing and watching flag football, youth football, lacrosse games and other recreational activities.
The City of Southlake’s North Park Project is slated to cost around $8.2 million and is expected to get underway this July, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The work on the park, located at 200 E. Dove Rd., includes 24,180 square yards of new turf, work on a 3,640 linear feet chain link fencing, drainage and sidewalk improvements, parking space pavement, LED sports field lighting, irrigation improvements and dumpster enclosure expansion.
The work on the park is expected to be completed at the end of December, according to the TDLR filing.
According to city park improvement documents, North Park was selected in a 2024 feasibility study to be worked on this year.
“Completion of turf at this facility will bring access to artificial turf, additional practice space and adequate parking to City Flag Football programming as well as Lady Dragon Lacrosse, Dragon Lacrosse, and Dragon Youth Football,” the document reads.
The project is part of the city’s $36.7 million capital improvement plan that was approved by the city council in February.
“Our parks and open spaces are an important part of what makes Southlake such a special place to live,” Mayor Shawn McCaskill said. “The North Park project reflects the City’s commitment to providing high-quality recreational opportunities while preserving parks as places where families gather, children play, and neighbors connect. As the final phase of our athletic field turf conversion program, this investment will help us maximize the use of our park system and continue delivering the exceptional park experience residents value.”
