Two women were killed in a crash on Northeast Loop 820 Expressway in North Richland Hills on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

An 18-wheeler and a sedan were involved in the crash about 12:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Loop 820 near Holiday Lane, police said in a news release.

The North Richland Hills Fire Department extricated two women from the car, and both of them were pronounced dead at the scene, police said

The investigation is ongoing, but no criminal charges are expected to be filed, according to police.

The eastbound lanes of the expressway remained closed to traffic from Iron Horse Boulevard while accident reconstructionists complete their investigation, police said about 3:35 p.m.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the women who died after their next of kin have been notified.
