The city of Everman has organized a temporary memorial to honor Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez as a reminder that he mattered and will not be forgotten.

The human remains found last week in the backyard of the Everman home where the missing 6-year-old lived were positively identified as belonging to the child, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, after FBI agents and local authorities searched the area for three days.

Dental records were used by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify Noel, who hadn’t been seen alive since October 2022, the DA’s office said.

The temporary memorial is established at Everman Memorial Park at 501 North Race Street where community members can come together and pay their respects, the city said in a social media post.

The memorial will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will remain in place until Noel is buried at his final resting place, the post read.

Residents are welcome to leave flowers, balloons, cards and small trinkets. Electronic candles are permitted, but open flames are not allowed, the city said.

The city facilities will be illuminated in light blue, the child’s favorite color, starting Saturday evening. Residents are encouraged to include light blue in their tributes, according to the post.

“This memorial is more than a place. It is a reminder that Noel mattered, that his life will not be forgotten, and that our community continues to grieve together, the post read. “Our hearts remain with Noel, his loved ones, and every person who has carried the weight of this loss.”

Noel’s mother, 41-year-old Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, was arrested in India last summer. Last month, Rodriguez-Singh was found incompetent to stand trial on a capital murder charge in her son’s death, and she will remain at a state mental health facility until her competency is restored.
