1 person dies after pickup truck crashes, catches fire in Haltom City, police say

One person was killed early Sunday in a crash involving two pickup trucks in the westbound express lanes of Northeast Loop 820, Haltom City police said in a news release.

Haltom City police officers responded to the crash about 2:45 a.m. on 820 near Fossil Creek Boulevard. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two pickup trucks involved in the crash, police said.

One of the trucks caught fire and the driver, who was the sole occupant of the burning truck, died at scene, police said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the person who died and determine the official cause and manner of death.

The driver of the second truck remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. No charges have been filed.

The westbound express lanes were closed. Traffic investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash, police said.
