I-30 in Rowlett reopens after motorcycle crash closed lanes in both directions

A crash involving a motorcycle and a car shut down traffic on Interstate 30 in both directions between Dalrock and Horizon roads near Rowlett and Rockwall on Sunday morning, police said.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the accident happened about 5 a.m. and affected the east and westbound lanes of I-30 near the Lake Ray Hubbard bridge.

Rowlett police said all lanes reopened shortly after 10 a.m. Officers were investigating the cause of the crash.

Police told KTVT-TV that a motorcyclist was ejected over a guardrail into the opposite lanes of traffic.

The motocyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Rowlett police told KTVT that two people who were in the car ran after the crash, and officers using a drone found them hiding in nearby brush. The two were arrested. Their names and the charges they are facing have not been released.
