A North Texas mother of a 6-month-old baby faces a long recovery after a massive tree fell on her vehicle Monday in the Lakewood neighborhood of Dallas, trapping her inside.

Maisie Evans Marsau survived by a miracle, her family said in a GoFundMe. She sustained a severe spinal cord injury in the accident and required major surgery.

“This accident has not only turned her world upside down but also created an unimaginable challenge for her family,” the fundraiser states. “The road ahead will be long and uncertain.”

Marsau was driving her SUV on Wendover Road when a large tree fell into the street, according to Dallas-Fire Rescue officials. She had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Money raised through the GoFundMe will help cover Marsau’s medical bills and provide stability for her baby daughter and husband, the fundraiser states. As of Thursday afternoon more than $130,000 had been raised toward a $150,000 goal.
