Two people were killed and two others were critically injured in a two-car crash on Monday, Aug. 4, in Parker County, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Timothy Lee Herrera Jr., 24, and Preston Duffy, 22, died at the scene of the crash on FM 51, south of Veal Station Road, at about 6:10 a.m., authorities with DPS said.
A 2020 silver Honda Accord, driven by Herrera, was headed northbound with Duffy in the front passenger seat and a 19-year-old man in the back seat, the release stated.
Around the same time, a silver 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 35-year-old woman was going south on FM 51, authorities with DPS said.
The Accord had slick tires and as it approached a curve during heavy rain, the car hydroplaned, causing it to swerve onto the southbound side of the road, the release stated.
The Outlander hit the Accord, and both vehicles stopped in the southbound lane of traffic, according to the release.
