SWAT officers responded Monday night to a home near Lake Worth after shots were fired by a man who was in distress, a Fort Worth police spokesperson said.

Someone initially called EMS crews to the house in the 8100 block of Heron Drive, in northwest Fort Worth near the lake, the spokesperson said. As they arrived, the crews heard shots fired from inside the home, and they retreated. The medics were not injured.

More than 20 SWAT units were dispatched to the house, according to an online call record. The incident was being treated as a barricaded person, the police spokesperson said.

The 30-year-old man eventually came out of the house and was taken into custody without further incident, police said. He was booked into the Tarrant County Jail and faces four charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, according to jail records.

No injuries were reported during the standoff, officials with the Fort Worth police and fire departments said Monday night.
