Two people were killed in a car crash late Friday night in Grand Prairie, officials with the Grand Prairie Police Department said.

Police responded to a report of the crash in the 4300 block of East Main Street around 9:20 p.m. Friday, according to a statement.

A Chevrolet pickup truck was crossing the eastbound lanes of East Main Street when it was struck by a Chrysler traveling east, according to the police.

Preliminary investigations found that the Chrysler was traveling at a high rate of speed and that neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said. The drivers and passengers of both vehicles were critically injured, and the drivers later died of their injuries.

The passengers from both vehicles remain in critical condition, police said. The deceased will be identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
