One person critically injured in Fort Worth shooting early Saturday, police say

One person was critically injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in Fort Worth, officials with the Fort Worth Police Department said.

Police responded to the shooting call in an area near West Long Avenue and Azle Avenue around 3:37 a.m., according to a statement. Officers found that a person sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle had been shot by an unknown suspect.

The victim — whose identity has not been released — was taken to the hospital in critical condition and is not expected to survive, police said. Homicide detectives are handling the investigation.
