Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol seized almost 3 kilograms — about 6 pounds — of cocaine and arrested one person at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Monday, officials said.

The cocaine was found inside an outbound piece of checked luggage belonging to a United States citizen, according to a statement.

Officers found several packages of a “white powdery substance” inside the liner of the luggage, officials said.

The owner of the luggage was arrested and turned over to DFW Airport police for booking, according to the statement.

“CBP is committed to combating drug trafficking at every level and we will continue to relentlessly pursue criminal networks and individuals who contribute to the scourge of drug abuse and addiction,” said Rafael Orona, the acting area port director.

Customs and Border Patrol agents seize almost 3,000 pounds of illegal drugs per day at ports of entry around the country, according to the statement.
