1 person killed when Jeep crashes into tree and catches fire, Grapevine police say

Grapevine police are investigating a fiery crash that killed one person early Friday, Feb. 21.

A white Jeep Wrangler veered off the road in the 2500 block of Mustang Drive around 2:15 a.m., according to police. The vehicle hit a tree on the median and caught fire. When officers arrived, the Jeep was already engulfed in flames.

The driver, who was the only person in the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene. They will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Part of Mustang Drive was closed Friday morning while police examined the accident scene and cleared the area. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
