Two people die in crash that split car in half, Grand Prairie police say

Two people died in a crash in Grand Prairie Sunday morning, police said.

A 29-year-old man was driving a 2002 Subaru Impreza north on Belt Line Road at a high speed and possibly racing another vehicle, Grand Prairie police said in a press release.

The driver lost control and crashed the Subaru into a light pole at about 11:07 a.m. The impact of the crash split the Subaru in half, and both driver and passenger were ejected, police said.

The driver and passenger, a 22-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their identities had not been released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner as of Sunday afternoon.

These are the second and third traffic fatalities in Grand Prairie this year.
