Denton officer injured in 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 35, police say

A Denton police officer was injured in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 35, police said.

The officer, who wasn’t identified, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition. There were no other reported injuries in the accident, police said.

It isn’t clear whether anyone has been, or will be, cited in connection with the crash, police said.

A preliminary investigation showed the crash occurred when a driver in an SUV traveling southbound on I-35 lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and collided with the police car, pushing it into a barrier. Police were still trying to determine Wednesday morning what role the third vehicle played in the wreck.

The department received multiple reports of the crash in the area of southbound I-35 and U.S. 380 around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
