1 charged with DUI after car crashes into apartment in North Richland Hills
One person was arrested on a DUI charge after a car rammed into a first-floor apartment in North Richland Hills on New Year’s Day morning, crashing through brick and siding and ending up inside the residence.
The tenant was home at the time of the crash but in a different room, avoiding injuries, the North Richland Hills Fire Department said on social media. Police said on Facebook officers arrested one individual on a DUI charge in connection with the crash.
Firefighters responded around 8 a.m. Wednesday to the crash at the Grayson Ridge Apartments in the 6900 block of Northeast Loop 820 in North Richland Hills, the department said. They found the vehicle inside the apartment.
Haltom City firefighters came to the scene to check the structure of the building.
Photos provided by the North Richland Hills Fire Department show a small blue Toyota car fully inside the apartment with piles of debris such as bricks and wood planks surrounding it. The car was seriously damaged, with its metal bent and warped and its back windshield missing.
Once the car was cleared, a massive hole was left behind in the apartment, photos show.
Police didn’t immediately respond to a question about if the tenant is displaced as a result of the crash.
