Multi-vehicle crash on I-30 in Arlington kills 1, injures 2: police
One person was killed and two others injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 30 early Saturday, Arlington police said.
Officers responded to the westbound lanes of I-30 between Cooper Street and Fielder Road about 3:45 a.m. Investigators said a speeding Dodge Avenger rear-ended a white sedan, causing the sedan to hit an unoccupied vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road.
The Avenger was disabled in the crash and was struck by an 18-wheeler that wasn’t able to stop in time, according to police. The Avenger’s passenger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Avenger’s driver and the driver of the white sedan were also injured and were taken to hospitals for treatment. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured, police said.
Intoxication may have contributed to the crash, according to police. The accident is under investigation. The westbound lanes of I-30 were closed for several hours while officials cleared the roadway.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will identify the person who died pending notification of next of kin.
