At a news conference about 11:45 a.m. today, Fort Worth police are expected to release body-camera videos and investigative updates from two shootings in which officers killed two men last weekend.

In the first shooting, early Saturday morning on Wiman Drive, police have said that one or more officers fired upon Emmitt Elijah Mayo after he pointed a gun at officers who were responding to 911 calls about shots fired in the east Fort Worth neighborhood. The family of Mayo, a 25-year-old rap artist known as 88Dub, has questioned the police account and said that Mayo had pulled his gun to defend himself when shots were fired during a dispute over payment for his planned performance at a house party.

In the second case, about four hours later, officers were working at the Wiman Drive shooting scene when a driver in an SUV sped past them and appeared to be trying to hit the officers, Police Chief Eddie Garcia has said. After officers chased the SUV and stopped it on Loop 820, the driver grabbed an officer’s gun and was shot by multiple officers, Garcia has said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the driver as 29-year-old Jorge Contreras.
