Students arrested after making threats toward Arlington charter school, police say
Two students face charges of making threats against an Arlington charter school on Monday evening, officials with the Arlington Police Department said.
Administrators at the school, Great Hearts Arlington, contacted police to report the threats Monday, officials said.
Administrators indicated that other students had turned in a piece of paper they found that contained threatening remarks directed at people at the school, police said.
After further investigation, officers identified two male students, who were charged with terroristic threat and taken to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
Because both of the students are minors, police did not release their names or additional information about the charges.
Officials with Great Hearts Arlington were not immediately available for comment Tuesday afternoon.
The school sent a letter to parents saying it will have additional security on campus, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV reported.
“We continue to be humbled by your trust in our Great Hearts Arlington leadership and faculty and are honored by the opportunity to work with your precious children,” the letter stated. “The safety and security of our Great Hearts Arlington community will always be our priority. Please know we remain dedicated to fostering a safe, supportive environment where every scholar can learn and grow.”
