Rapper BigXthaPlug arrested on marijuana possession under 2 ounces, Arlington police say
Arlington police arrested a 26-year-old Dallas rapper on a marijuana charge early Wednesday, officials with the Arlington Police Department said.
Xavier Landum, known by his stage name BigXthaPlug, was pulled over in a car with expired registration while driving on North Collins Street about midnight, police said.
As an officer approached the vehicle, he could smell marijuana, according to a news release. The officer then asked Landum and a passenger to get out of the car.
Officers could see cigarettes and a “green leafy substance” in the vehicle’s console, officials said. Police also found a handgun in the passenger door pocket.
The passenger was identified as 22-year-old Cleodist Landum, police said.
Cleodist had an active felony warrant out of Bexar County and was booked into the Arlington City Jail on that warrant, in addition to a possession charge and an unlawful carrying of weapons charge, police said.
Xavier Landum was booked into the Arlington jail on a charge of possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana, according to the release.
In Dallas, Landum would not have faced arrest at all: Since January, Dallas police officers have been prohibited from citing or arresting people in possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana.
