North Texas babysitter who sexually abused 15 children is sentenced to life in prison
A former Arlington babysitter who pleaded guilty to continuous child sexual abuse has been sentenced to life in a Texas prison, the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said.
Kaleb Nix, 26, babysat for “numerous families” from 2018 until 2023, when Arlington police received a tip that Nix possessed images that showed children being sexually abused, authorities said.
Investigators later found that Nix had over 17,000 such images on his phone and that he had sexually abused 15 of the children who were in his care, Tarrant County District Attorney Phil Sorrells said.
Nix was sentenced last year on federal charges of sexual exploitation of children stemming from the same crimes.
The 60-year federal sentence will be served consecutively to the life sentence on the state charges, U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman said at a sentencing in December.
Nix’s victims ranged in age from 1 to 9 years old, investigators said.
Some of the crimes occurred at the homes of victims in Fort Worth, according to federal court documents.
Homeland Security Investigations and the Arlington Police Department led the investigation.
