The Arlington Police Department is investigating the death of a 55-year-old man as a homicide after his neighbor noticed signs of a break-in and saw his body through a window, police said.

Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 800 block of North Center Street at around 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, after receiving a call from the man’s neighbor, authorities said.

The resident told police she could see that a window at the man’s apartment had been broken and that when she went to investigate, she saw the man lying on the floor covered in blood.

Upon further investigation, police found that the man had “extensive trauma” all over his body, officials said.

The man, identified by the medical examiner as Theodore John White, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine White’s cause of death. It’s unclear how long he had been dead, police said in a news release.

Two other vacant apartments in the complex had broken windows, and the victim’s front door was damaged “consistent with someone forcing their way inside,” according to the police statement.

Police have not identified any suspects or made any arrests, and are canvassing the area for more information.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Arlington police Detective Coffer at 817-459-5735. Tipsters can remain anonymous by contacting CrimeStoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.
