Bicyclist trying to cross Arlington street hit, killed by car, police say

A bicyclist was killed Monday evening after being hit by a car on an Arlington street, Arlington police said.

No charges are expected against the driver of the car, police said.

The name of the bicyclist has not been released by authorities as of Tuesday.

The crash was reported about 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of East Division Street.

An Acura TSX driven by a 28-year-old man was westbound when it hit the bicyclist who was crossing the street, Arlington police said.

The man on the bicycle was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police said the bicyclist was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.

The driver of the car, who stopped after the accident, was not injured, police said.
