Pedestrian struck, killed by car while walking on Arlington frontage road, police say

A pedestrian was hit and killed early Wednesday by a car on a frontage road of U.S. 287 in Arlington, Arlington police said

The pedestrian was struck while walking in the middle of the roadway, Arlington police said.

The name of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had not been released pending notification of relatives.

The accident occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. in the 5800 block of the southbound frontage road of U.S. 287 in Arlington.

A car was southbound on the frontage road when it hit the pedestrian, who was in the roadway.

The driver stopped and remained at the scene after the crash.

Arlington police said the driver showed no signs of impairment.

Authorities have not determined why the pedestrian was walking on the roadway.
