Driver loses control of car, crashes into south Arlington daycare playground

A driver was injured in a crash Thursday morning in Arlington after a car smashed into a daycare playground, but no children were injured, Arlington police said.

A staff member suffered minor injuries when that person was hit by debris from the car.

The motorist may have had a medical issue causing him to lose control of his car, go off the road and crash into the playground at The Children’s Courtyard of South Arlington.

He was taken to a local hospital, and he was expected to recover, Arlington police said.

The wreck occurred about 10:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Wimbledon Drive in Arlington.

A Volkswagen Jetta veered off the road, crashed through a fence at the daycare, hit a small playground and flipped over, Arlington police said.

Several children and staff members were in the yard at the time of the crash.
