One dead in Arlington traffic accident after car hits concrete barrier

One person was killed Sunday morning after crashing into a concrete barrier at Interstate 20 and Texas 360 in Arlington, Arlington police said.

There were no other occupants in the car and no other vehicles involved in the wreck.

Arlington police responded to the major accident shortly before 11:30 a.m. Sunday at I-20 and Texas 360.

The driver was traveling westbound on I-20 and attempted to go north on Texas 360. Arlington police said for an unknown reason, the motorist lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and collided with the barrier.

The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arlington police noted the roadways were wet at the time of the fatal crash.

The victim was identified as 74-year-old Gene Michael Bland of Nocona, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website. He died from blunt force injuries and his death was ruled an accident.
