Tarrant reports 34 COVID deaths over the past 3 days, 412 new cases Monday
Tarrant County reported 11 COVID-19 deaths and 412 new cases on Monday.
The county reported 23 COVID-related deaths over the weekend, including 10 deaths and 512 cases on Sunday.
Monday’s pandemic-related deaths include a White Settlement woman in her 30s, an Arlington woman in her 30s, a Haltom City man in his 40s, a Fort Worth woman in her 50s, two Fort Worth men in their 60s, an Arlington woman in her 60s, an Arlington man in his 70s, and three Fort Worth men in their 70s.
One of the 11 did not have underlying health conditions, according to officials.
The Sunday pandemic-related deaths included a Fort Worth man in his 20s, an Arlington man in his 30s, a Fort Worth man in his 40s, a Haltom City man in his 60s, a Colleyville man in his 60s, a Fort Worth woman and man in their 70s, a Haltom City man in his 80s, a Watauga man in his 80s, and a Fort Worth man older than 90.
One of the 10 did not have underlying health conditions, according to officials.
Saturday’s COVID-related deaths included a Fort Worth male under 20, a Watauga man in his 30s, an Arlington man in his 40s, a Mansfield man in his 40s, two Fort Worth men in their 50s, three Fort Worth men in their 60s, a Lake Worth man in his 60s, a Fort Worth man in his 70s, a White Settlement man in his 70s, and an Arlington woman in her 80s.
Two of the 13 did not have underlying health conditions, according to officials.
The county has reported 357,466 COVID-19 cases, including 4,560 deaths and an estimated 337,018 recoveries.
Note to readers: Tarrant County does not release data on the vaccination status of recently diagnosed patients or deaths. Officials have released this type of data once in June and it showed that nearly 100% of the new cases reported at the time (from May to mid-June) were in people who were not vaccinated. Further, county officials said fewer than 200 of those new cases at the time were in previously vaccinated Tarrant residents.
COVID-19 hospitalizations
Hospitalized COVID patients decreased by 50 to 519 in the latest seven-day moving average. It’s the fewest reported since 458 on July 26. The pandemic high was 1,528 on Jan. 6.
COVID-19 hospitalizations decreased to 8% from 12% of the total number of beds in Tarrant County and make up 9% of the 3,539 occupied beds. The rate was at a pandemic-high 38% on Jan. 10.
Confirmed COVID patients decreased to 9.91% from 10.86% of all available hospital beds in the North Central Texas Trauma Region, which includes 45 counties (divided into three regions). The rate dipped below 15% on Oct. 1 for the first time since Aug. 9.
Hospital beds
Tarrant County’s hospital bed occupancy remained at 88%, according to county data. Available hospital beds increased by 211 to 750. The pandemic low was 360 on Sept. 20.
ICU beds
Adult ICU bed occupancy decreased to 93% from 96%. The rate was last at a pandemic-high 99% on Friday. Ventilator use decreased by 36 to 314. Patients are using 39% of the 813 ventilators in the county.
Positivity rate
The COVID-19 testing positivity rate for Tarrant County increased to 15.83% from 15.33% in the latest available seven-day average data. The rate was last at a pandemic-high 30% on Jan. 7.
Vaccination data
According to Texas Department of State Health Services, 67.83% of Tarrant County residents 12 or older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 60.12% of residents 12 or older have been fully vaccinated.
DSHS also reports that 88.06% of Tarrant residents 65 or older have received at least one dose, and 81.56% of residents 65 or older have been fully vaccinated.
More than 72.96% of Texas residents 12 or older have received at least one dose, according to DSHS. Fully vaccinated Texas residents 12 or older are at 63.25%.
Tarrant County is offering free COVID-19 vaccines and testing at locations throughout the area.
