Woman in her 20s, man in his 30s among 29 COVID deaths reported in Tarrant past 2 days

Officials reported 19 COVID-related deaths and 661 new cases on Sunday. Ten deaths and 779 new cases were reported on Saturday.

The county has reported 10 or more COVID deaths in each of the past six days and seven of the past eight.

Sunday’s pandemic-related deaths include a North Richland Hills man in his 30s, a Fort Worth man in his 40s, two Fort Worth men and a woman in their 50s, a woman from rural Tarrant County in her 50s, an Arlington woman in her 60s, three Fort Worth men in their 60s, two Fort Worth men in their 70s, a Hurst man in his 70s, a Southlake man in his 80s, an Azle woman in her 80s, an Arlington woman in her 80s, and two Fort Worth women and a man in their 80s.

All 19 had underlying health conditions, according to officials.

Saturday’s deaths included a Fort Worth woman in her 20s, a Haltom City woman in her 50s, an Arlington woman in her 50s, an Edgecliff Village man in his 50s, two Fort Worth men in their 50s, a Fort Worth woman in her 60s, an Arlington man in his 70s, an Arlington man in his 80s, and a Saginaw woman in her 80s. All 10 had underlying health conditions, according to officials.

The county has reported 353,027 COVID-19 cases, including 4,459 deaths and an estimated 328,188 recoveries.

Other pandemic-related data including positive test rates and hospitalizations are not updated by the county on the weekend.

Note to readers: Tarrant County does not release data on the vaccination status of recently diagnosed patients or deaths. Officials have released this type of data once in June and it showed that nearly 100% of the new cases reported at the time (from May to mid-June) were in people who were not vaccinated. Further, county officials said fewer than 200 of those new cases at the time were in previously vaccinated Tarrant residents.

Vaccination data

According to Texas Department of State Health Services, 67.37% of Tarrant County residents 12 or older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 59.53% of residents 12 or older have been fully vaccinated.

DSHS also reports that 87.75% of Tarrant residents 65 or older have received at least one dose, and 81.25% of residents 65 or older have been fully vaccinated.

More than 72.52% of Texas residents 12 or older have received at least one dose, according to DSHS. Fully vaccinated Texas residents 12 or older are at 62.69%.

Tarrant County is offering free COVID-19 vaccines and testing at locations throughout the area.
