Tarrant County passes 500 coronavirus deaths with single-day high 22 reported Saturday

Tarrant County reported a single-day high 22 coronavirus deaths and 228 cases on Saturday.

Seven of Saturday’s deaths were unreported from July. The county’s previous high for COVID deaths reported in one day was 18 on July 31. The county has reported 54 coronavirus deaths this week (Aug. 16-22). There were 30 deaths reported the previous week and 30 the first week of August.

Some coronavirus cases and deaths have been added to daily totals the past week after a glitch was discovered in the state’s data reporting system that resulted in unreported cases and deaths from earlier in the pandemic.

New cases have been dropping. Saturday’s total is the lowest since Aug. 11 and third-lowest in August.

Tarrant County has confirmed 39,556 COVID-19 cases, including 505 deaths and at least 32,488 recoveries.
