Dallas County reports over 1,000 new coronavirus cases for 8th day in a row

On Friday, Dallas County reported 1,165 new cases of COVID-19, making it the eighth day in a row the county has reported more than 1,000 positive cases.

Dr. Philip Huang, Dallas County health director, told county commissioners Friday morning of the new cases, the Dallas Morning News reported. Dallas County now has 31,525 total confirmed cases. The county also reported nine new deaths on Friday, bringing the total to 445. The county does not report recoveries.

Hospitalizations in Dallas County, along with the state, are increasing, Huang said. Dallas health officials reported records of 771 hospitalizations on Wednesday and 831 hospitalizations Thursday.

On Friday, Texas surpassed 10,000 hospitalizations and COVID-19 patients occupied about 17% of all available beds.
