Texas surpasses 10,000 coronavirus hospitalizations, reports 9,765 new cases
Texas passed 10,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Friday, continuing its upward trend in hospitalizations.
The state also reported 9,765 new cases, the third day it surpassed 9,000, which follows the single-day high of 10,028 that was reported on Tuesday, according to state data. On Friday, 95 deaths were also reported, the third most in a single day.
Every day, the state continues to report more coronavirus hospitalizations. On June 11, there were about 2,153 hospitalizations and now the state has 10,002, according to state data. COVID-19 patients occupy about 17% of all available beds. Experts believe the surge in hospitalizations is caused by holiday weeks, such as Memorial Day.
