Dallas County reports 36 more coronavirus cases to surpass 100 total; second man dies

Dallas County reported 36 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday, bringing the county’s total to 131.

A second person died from coronavirus in Dallas County after he was critically ill in a local hospital, Dallas County Health and Human Services reported Sunday. The man was in his 80s, lived in Dallas and did not have other high-risk chronic health conditions.

More than 40 percent of patients who need to be hospitalized are over 60 years old, Dallas County Health and Human Services said in the news release. New cases in Dallas County will be reported daily, with a more detailed summary report released Tuesdays and Fridays.

Dallas County is not releasing the names of people who die from coronavirus.

“My thoughts and prayers are with this family and with all of the persons who have been suffering from COVID19,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in the press release. “Dallas County will do everything in their power to#flattenthecurve and give you and your family their best chance to stay safe.”

Five more coronavirus cases were reported in Tarrant County Sunday, bringing the county’s total number of cases to 47.
