Five more coronavirus cases reported in Tarrant County brings the total number to 47

Five more coronavirus cases have been identified by Tarrant County Public Health officials bringing the total number of cases on Sunday to 47.

Public health officials have reported that two people have recovered after being diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Patrick James, a 77-year-old Arlington man, is the only person in Tarrant County who has reportedly died after testing positive for the disease.

According to figures from Tarrant County Public Health, 17 coronavirus cases were linked to travel, three were infected with the virus from a known source and 12 were infected by an unknown source. Public health officials list the transmission type as pending for 15 cases.

Patrick James shared a duplex with his wife, Jean James, at the Texas Masonic Retirement Home in Arlington, where coronavirus testing for all staff and employees of the campus were expected to be completed by Saturday. Results from the tests conducted this weekend were expected to be reported by the end of this week, according to Vinny Taneja, Tarrant County Public Health director.

Public health officials reported a total of 11 active cases in Arlington, while 14 active cases are being reported in Fort Worth as of Sunday.

Dallas County reported an additional 36 cases on Sunday, bringing its total to 131, Dallas County Public Health records showed. A man in his 80s who was a resident of Dallas reportedly has died, marking the second death in the county according to public officials.
